5 Pachaiyappa’s students who secured MU rank honoured

Chennai: Five students from Pachaiyappa’¬ís College received medals and prizes for their outstanding performance in the examinations conduced by University of Madras in April 2018.

They received the medals for the university first rank and passed the examinations first class with distinction.

They were honoured during the convocation held at the university recently.

Tamilnadu Governor and Chancellor, University of Madras, Banwarilal Purohit, State Higher Education Minister and Pro-Chancellor K P Anbalagan, and Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research Director Arun Kumar Bahaduri participated.

University of Madras Vice-Chancellor P Duraisamy presented the annual report, highlighting various achievements.

Ph.D student Jeya S of Zoology Department received the Prof Dr V A Murthy Endowment Medal, M.Sc Zoology student Madhuvandhi J got Dr S G Manavala Ramanujan Prize and Madras University Students Club Endowment Prize.

M.Sc Botany student Sivaranjani R received the K Kamaraj Medal and Madras University Students Club Endowment Prize, M.Sc Mathematics student Gayathri got the Stuart Prizes and Madras University Students Club Endowment Prize, and a student of B.Sc Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology received the Sri Chandra Prabhu Jain College Endowment Gold Medal.

All the students were university first ranks in their respective subject and Jeya S for the best thesis in PhD Zoology.
