Chennai: A man was chased by a group and hacked to death at Mandaveli last night. According to the police, Siva (29), a resident of Mylapore, who worked as a car driver was murdered by a group of seven men. Police said, Siva has cases against him at several city police stations and the killing could have been due to previous enmity.
At 11.30 pm, he was near the bus depot at Mandaveli talking to a friend identified as Lakshmi. Seven persons on two-wheelers came towards him and began attacking him with beer bottles. When he tried to escape, they pushed him to the ground and hacked him with a sickle. The police are conducting an inquiry with Lakshmi who said she fled the spot when the attack began. Siva’s body has been sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post mortem. Further inquiries are going on.
