Avadi IAF Station gets new chief

Chennai: Air Commodore J Rajendra took charge as the Command of Air Force Station, Avadi from Air Commodore Amar Ahuja on Thursday.

According to a defence press release, Rajendra was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on 6 December 1985. He is a graduate in Law, MSc (Statistics) and MSc (Def and Strategic Studies).

The Air officer had held a number of important appointments at senior level, which include Commanding Officer, HQ Western Air Command (Unit), Chief Administrative Officer at Air Force Station New Delhi and Joint Judge Advocate General (Air) at Air HQ.

Prior to the present command of Air Force Station Avadi, the Air Officer was holding the appointment of Chief Personnel Staff Officer at Headquarters Training Command, Bangalore.

Rajendra is an alumnus of prestigious Defence Services Staff College Wellington and Air University of United States Air Force, Maxwell Alabama. He has also been awarded Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India in 2008. Rajendra is an athlete, cricketer and a national level chess player, the release said.
