Chennai: Even after facing multiple charges of cheating, blackmail and sexual assault, Venkata Saravanan, also known as Professor SARPV Chaturvedi Swami, a self-proclaimed godman, continues to be elusive.
A team of the City Crime Branch (CCB) has filed petitions to declare Chaturvedi Swami a wanted accused.
Chaturvedi Swami is accused of sexually torturing a family of four from Alwarpet including a minor girl in 2004.
A CCB order says, “When the case was posted for trial, the accused remained absent continuously. A non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued on November 2016, however, the warrant was never executed.”
This is despite the police having his mobile number for tracking and knew of his public programmes across India and Nepal, it is said.
Chaturvedi Swami is the managing trustee of Sri Ramanuja Mission Trust and constantly travels across north India and Nepal.
According to a complaint, in 2004 when Chaturvedi Swami was operating his trust from T Nagar, he harassed a woman sexually. Many times he subjected her to cruelty and had sexual relationship with her by ‘exploiting her faith in God’.
