Parents honoured for children’s achievements in Chennai

Chennai: WOW – Mind and Behavioural Clinic, managing partner Divya Karthick said, “We often recognise those who are successful, but many more people put immense work behind the screen for the accomplishment. It is important that we begin to recognise the ‘behind the scene’ celebrities and award them.”

She was speaking at the fifth edition of the Parenting Excellence Awards 2018 organised in the city recently. Divya Karthick said the motivation for this effort came while seeing many care givers, in their tireless effort to provide the best for their children and make them face the world with confidence.

The annual awards, instituted by WOW – Mind and Behavioural Clinic is conferred on parents and other individuals who have provided support and care in nurturing, talent, skill and social sensitivity among children. There were eight winners this year and the awards were given away Child Rights Commission member Sheela Jayanthi.

One of the Jury for the awards, Psychiatrist Jaikumar said every one of the nominees were deserving candidates and it was a hard but refreshing experience to shortlist the awardees. “It is inspirational to read about the work of all these parents and individuals and to know there is so much love and care in a world that we increasing feel to be violent,” he said.
