I am not a fool, says Rajini, clarifying on the 7 people issue

Chennai: The reporter’s question was not clear and that was why he could not react properly to the issue of the seven Rajiv Gandhi assassination convicts case, explained Superstar Rajinikanth today at a media meet.

The media and public have been roasting Rajinikanth for being unaware of the seven Rajiv Gandhi case convicts issue after he asked ‘what seven people’ yesterday in reply to a question put forth by a reporter.

At a media meet organised outside his Poes Garden residence this morning, Rajinikanth chose to clarify on his not connecting with the question. He pointed out that he was the one who had consoled Perarivalan, one of the seven convicts, over phone when he came out on parole some months back. So, he argued, he was not a fool.

He was well aware of the issue, he said, and opined that he was for releasing all the seven from prison on humanitarian grounds. Anyway, he conceded, the matter was before the State Governor.

Yesterday he was also asked about the BJP. When asked if the BJP was such a ‘dangerous’ (electorally) party that warranted formation of a mega national alliance against it, he had said, “They (Opposition parties) feel that way, then it should definitely be like that.”

But today, he made a cryptic remark about the BJP, asking rhetorically who was strong: one person fighting ten persons or the other way round.
