To mark the beginning of the Karthigai Deepam festival, the traditional flag was hoisted on the 73 feet pole at Annamalaiyar Temple in Tiruvannamalai today.
Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister Sevoor Ramachandran, Collector Kandhasaamy and senior officials took part in the event.
Close to 15,000 devotees witnessed the event.
