Post-Gaja, S Railway quickly clears tracks to restore services

Chennai: Southern Railway is monitoring the impact of Cyclone Gaja and train services are resuming.

There were incidents of trees falling on tracks due to which there was an overhead equipment problem in Madurai division and it was rectified at the earliest and train services were restored, said Southern Railway general manager R K Kulshrestha on Friday.

The trees that fell on tracks at Tiruchi division were also cleared by the railway team, he added.

The general manager was addressing mediapersons during the declaration of winners for the two-day All India Inter-Railway Cultural Competition 2018 for music from 15 November, hosted by Southern Railway in Chennai.

As many as 154 musicians from 17 zones and six production units of the Indian Railways took part in the contest.

Kulshrestha and Southern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation president Mansi Kulshrestha distributed the awards to the winners. The competition were judged by Prabhanjam S Balachandran, Srinivasa Rao and Kuldeep Sagar.
