Holding a gun or a knife on screen is not new for actress Sai Dhanshika . The Kabali and Uru actress, a martial arts exponent as well, paid her guru vanakkam (respects) to her mentor Pandian master, on her birthday recently.
Dhanshika, who undertook self-defence course and silambam training from Pandian, reached YMCA where many of her fans and close friends had gathered to wish her.
After she cut the custom-made cake, as a token of reverence to her guru, the young actor performed silambam with her bamboo staff and enthralled the gathering. The video has gone viral.
“With increasing incidents of sexual abuse on women, I honestly feel all girls and women should equip themselves with self-defence practices. When parents can send their girls to learn dance and music, why not self-defence courses? I am planning to start a school and teach girls silambam and other martial arts in future,” the actress revealed.
