As part of the 51st Library Week festival, a book exhibition took place at the full-time branch library at Shanmugam Road in West Tambaram.
The exhibition concluded 21 November.
Speaking to ‘News Today‘, librarian T P Venkatesan said around 4,000 books will be on display during the exhibition.
“Various competitions will be conducted in which students from six schools will participate. A grand event will be held on the final day at Dr Ambedkar Marriage Hall in West Tambaram in which Tambaram MLA S R Raja will be chief guest. He will give away the prizes to the winners of the competitions. West Tambaram, Reader’s circle president M S Ranjan will preside over the function,” he said.
“Books for people of all ages are being displayed in the exhibition and 10 per cent special discount will be given on all purchases,” the librarian said.

Venkatesan said the old building in which the library is functioning at present will be demolished and a new facility constructed. “MLA S R Raja has allotted Rs 50 lakh for this purpose and the work is expected to commence at the earliest,” he said. |
