Two injured as judge’s car collides with auto in Chennai

Chennai: Two persons were injured after the SUV of a Madras High Court judge collided with an autorickshaw at Kamarajar Salai near Marina early this morning.

According to the police, the car was driven by Babu (30), a resident of Ayapakkam. He was on way to pick up Justice Jayachandran from Central station at 4.30 am.

He was near Presidency College and driving in the middle of the road when he collided with an auto riding on the left side of the stretch. The police said they were probing how the vehicles veered towards each other and collided.

Auto driver Rubalingam (44) from Ambattur and passenger Govindaraj (50) from Mylapore suffered injuries to their hands, legs and head. They are undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. Both are said to be in a stable condition.

Babu escaped unhurt in the incident.

The Anna Square Traffic Investigation wing has registered a case.
