Nigerian held at Porur in Chennai for drug peddling

Chennai: The city police have busted a drug-peddling unit by arresting a man from Nigeria at Porur here.

The police seized drugs worth Rs 5 lakh from him and two other men from Chennai. According to the police, Sukvu Simon Obino reached Chennai from Nigeria via Bengaluru recently to carry out drug business.

A special team, led by Deputy Commissioner of Adyar, Shashank Sai, made the first arrest in this case, when they picked up Kumaresan from his apartment in Porur and handed him to over to SRMC police 14 December. The team seized 20 grams of cocaine and 37 ecstasy tablets from him.

Following further investigations by SRMC police, Divakar was also arrested. The police began questioning the duo to find out how the supply chain worked and who was the main dealer.

The duo claimed they got it from Sukvu Simon Obino (29).

The police arrested him near the Porur toll gate last night. Officials seized a huge amount of ecstasy tablets from him.

Inspector of police Shankara Narayanan said, “The trio met in Goa. Sukvu was the main drug dealer and supplier.”

Sources said they have been supplying drugs to some well-known persons in the city.
