Tamilnadu Governor Purohit prorogues Assembly

Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has prorogued the session of the State Legislative Assembly, which commenced 6 December.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by subclause (a) of clause (2) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India, I, Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Tamil Nadu, hereby prorogue with effect from the date of this notification the session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly which commenced on the 6th December, 2018,” said the Governor, according to a notification issued today by Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan.

On 6 December, a special session of the Tamilnadu Assembly was held to discuss Mekedatu issue, where a unanimous resolution was passed against the neighbouring Karnataka’s move to construct a dam across the Cauvery.
