Chennai: Three persons were arrested by the city police for snatching mobile phones from two persons in a span of 45 minutes in Saidapet and Mylapore.
According to the police, Selvaraj (52), a resident of Bajanai Koil Street near Saidapet was walking at Greenways Road on 9 December at 10 pm when bike-borne men snatched his mobile phone and fled.
At the same time police got yet another complaint from one Balasubramanian (54), he alleged that he was walking at Mundaka Kanni Amman Koil street, Mylapore when his phone was snatched by unknown persons on a bike.
After conducting inquiries, police arrested three youngsters from Kotturpuram. They were identified as Nagaraj (19), Naveen Kumar (19) and Deepak (21). Police seized two mobile phones and a bike from the trio. Police said both Nagaraj and Naveen Kumar have assault cases at various police stations.
They have been actively snatching phones for the past three months. They claimed they sold the phone at Burma Baazar. They are currently lodged at Abhiramipuram police station.
