Rowdy hacked to death in Chennai

Chennai: A rowdy who sells ganja was hacked to death in broad daylight in Tambaram today by a drug peddler after arguments broke out over dividing the share for the drugs sold by them. The scene was captured in a CCTV camera.

The incident happened in Kundumedu where Ganja selling is rampant. The rowdy Vijayan (23) who was killed worked with Gokul (19). The duo sold drugs in and around Perungaluthur.

Police said the duo had quarrels previously as to what share each should get off the ganja they sold.

This morning, Gokul and his friend came to meet Vijayan near a shop in the area. After a brief quarrel, Gokul hacked Vijayan on his back and hands with a knife he had in his possession all along.

CCTV cameras showed Vijayan fleeing the bloody crime scene on a two-wheeler immediately after the incident.

Just three months back, police had installed seven CCTV cameras in the area to monitor and reduce the growing crimes in the area. Police have sent the body to postmortem and are on the lookout for Gokul using the CCTV footage.
