TN to get 350 more MBBS seats in 2019

Chennai: “From 2019, the government medical colleges in Tirunelveli, Madurai and Karur will have 350 extra seats,” said Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan.

Tirunelveli and Madurai medical colleges will have 100 extra seats each, and Karur medical college will get 150 seats.

The Secretary who visited the newly-constructed super speciality hospital at Rs 150 crore at Tirunelveli government medical college told reporters, “The construction work will be completed by the second week of January. Vacancies for 450 special doctors and 160 nursing staff have been allocated and is capacitated to have 330 beds.”

The hospital is said to have eight speciality departments which will be later expanded in few months’ time. He also pointed out that 44 extra seats for 2019 academic year have been allotted for postgraduation admission.
