Trisha turns Madurai Ponnu in flashback portions of Rajini’s ‘Petta’

The year 2018 ended on a high note for Trisha. Came 96, a romantic entertainer, and she won laurels for her performance.

As Jaanu opposite Vijay Sethupathi in the movie, she wooed every youngster. And adding jewel to her crown is Petta. In the Rajinikanth-starrer, she plays his wife.

Bankrolled by Sun Pictures and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Petta is releasing 10 January. Sources say that Trisha appears in an extended cameo in flashback portions that occurs in Madurai.

The buzz is that her costumes and jewellery in the film will depict Sridevi’s looks in the 1980s.

Speaking about sharing screen space with Rajinikanth, Trisha said, “For years, I’ve been asked when I will work with Rajinikanth. Honestly, this question has bothered me. It’s time to finally shut all those people up as I have acted in Petta. I feel my career is complete.”

“I know Rajini sir as a human, co-star, and an intelligent and a funny person. If we have even 10 per cent of his attitude and humanity, we will all be better people. It is my 16th year in the industry. One common thing that I found between Kamal sir and Rajini sir is their discipline. Rajini sir never goes to the caravan. There is an interesting costume in Petta that everyone will like,” she said, speaking at the audio launch.

Asked about 96, she says, “It is a movie to cherish in my career. The film 96 was a unique love story that revolved around two batch-mates from the 1996 batch, Ram and Jaanu, who meet 20 years later at the school reunion. Vijay Sethupathi was the least intimidating star I have worked with in my career. He made working with him very comfortable right from the first day.”
