Chennai: The metropolis largely remained undisturbed on the second day of the national strike called by various trade unions.
Life remained normal and public transport was undisturbed.
But buses plying to other States like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala were halted at the border to prevent untoward incidents. Yesterday, on the first day of the strike, a Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation bus was damaged by miscreants while it was plying in Puducherry.
There were reports of bank ATMs running dry as bankers joined the nationwide strike.
The strike has been called by AITUC, CITU and other trade unions to press their 12-point charter of demands. It was called against the alleged anti-people, anti-national and anti-workers policies of the Central government.
