Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urged his party MPs to seek amendments in the 10 per cent reservation bill to the economically backward sections introduced by the Central government.

The TRS president, in a press release, said, in 2017, the Telangana legislative assembly had passed a resolution asking the union government for 12 per cent reservation for backward Muslims and 10 per cent for STs.

He added that this resolution, which is pending with the Centre, should be introduced in Parliament. Rao has asked the MPs to insist on amendment to the bill. At present, backward sections among Muslims in the Telangana get 4 per cent reservation, while STs get six per cent.
