Govt offices in Puducherry to be shut on 14 January

Puducherry: In view of Bhogi festival, 14 January has been declared a holiday for government offices by Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday. There would be a series of holidays from January 12 to 17.

According to official release, it is not a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and is applicable to Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions.

The release further said all institutions would compensate the holiday by functioning on 2 February. Earlier, 14 January was declared a restricted holiday but now it is a general holiday.
