Chennai: In an effort to spread awareness on road safety with special emphasis on good vision, Sankara Nethralaya embarked on a campaign titled ‘Eye on Road Safety’ that would encompass various awareness creation /spreading activities on road safety.
The inaugural function was held at the COMCO Hindustan Petroleum bunk on Pantheon Road, Friday, where HPCL senior marketing manager Subha Muthurman, HP petrol bunk branch manager Karthikeyan and Sankara Nethralaya administration director Akila Ganesan participated. The institution has identified 10 Hindustan Petroleum stations across the city for this campaign.
A press release issued by the hospital stated, “The activities would include installation of special ‘vision charts’ with numbers developed by the institution at vantage points at the filling stations where customers can do a self-check of their vision, additionally 250 pocket screening cards will be presented to employees and customers visiting the filling stations which could be used by them to check their distance, near and colour vision and help friends and family members to do the same in the comfort of their homes.”
The senior management members of the hospital were also present during the occasion.
