WHO partners with Chennai hospital for diabetes research

Chennai: World Health Organization (WHO) has collaborated with M V Hospital for Diabetes and Prof M Viswanathan Diabetes Research Centre, Royapuram for it’s project Centre for Research, Education and Training in Diabetes.

For the fifth consecutive time, WHO accredits the hospital that reaffirms the high standards of commitment to offer healthcare services, according to a press release.

Hospital’s head and chief diabetologist, Dr Vijay Viswanathan, said, ‘WHO has defined the terms as prevention and identification of predictors of diabetes and its complications. Under the WHO leadership, the hospital will continue to strengthen the education and training in diabetes prevention and management and develop methods for reducing diabetes risk factors at the community level.’

“Epidemiological research on prevention and identification of predictors of diabetes and its complications and its associated co-morbid conditions of public health importance will also be carried out,” he added.
