Modi, Bedi trying to strangulate Puducherry govt: Wasnik

Mukul Wasnik

Puducherry: Mukul Wasnik, AICC general secretary, alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lt Governor Kiran Bedi were trying to strangulate the democratically-elected government of V Narayanasamy in Puducherry.

Taking part in ‘Project Shakti’ – aimed at ensuring direct interaction with party men with the leadership and to get their feedback on various crucial issues – Wasnik said that under Congress rule, the Union Territory has been making spectacular progress economically and that Modi and his representative (Bedi) were trying to create problems in its smooth rule.

The Congress leader alleged that the dreams of the youth, farmers, women and the workers in Puducherry were being trampled upon by the Centre. He said no Congress party worker should tolerate what Modi and his representative in Puducherry are doing. Modi cannot say that the Gujarat model should be followed for development in Puducherry and Gujarat was no longer a peaceful state.

Referring to the recent assembly polls in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, Wasnik claimed that what happened in those States would also happen in the coming Lok Sabha polls. The days of Modi government were numbered.

He said in Modi’s governance, every institution, such as the RBI, CBI, Enforcement Directorate and Central Vigilance Commission, was under threat.

He urged his party men to ensure that Congress makes a comeback under Rahul Gandhi at the Centre and that they should win the sole Lok Sabha seat in Puducherry in the upcoming general elections.
