Chennai: AIADMK MP and Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, M Thambidurai, appeared before the Justice Arumughaswamy Commission that is probing the circumstances leading to the death of J Jayalalithaa when she was the chief minister of Tamilnadu.
Yesterday, Health Minister C Vijaya Bhaskar, responding to summons, appeared before the commission and recorded his statements and today it was Thambidurai who was responding to the summons.
It is expected that Thambidurai will be answering questions by the retired judge who is heading the commission, and also during the cross-examination by expelled AIADMK leader Sasikala’s advocates.
Speaking to reporters after appearing before the commission yesterday, Vijaya Bhaskar said he extended full cooperation to Justice Arumughaswamy. Later, Sasikala’s counsel said the Minister had mentioned that a Cabinet meeting took place during the time of Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation.
He is believed to have said no decision was taken on taking Jayalalithaa to a foreign country for treatment.
The commission has been functioning for the past 1.5 years and is expected to wrap up its probe next month.
According to reports, it is expected that Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam would also appear before the commission soon.
