DMK protest throws traffic out of gear in city

Chennai: Traffic was thrown out of gear at most places in Chennai this morning following protest by the DMK seeking probe against Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in Kodanad video leak.

DMK cadres gathered in large numbers near Saidapet to carry out a procession towards Raj Bhavan. As a result traffic was blocked in busy GST road. Also the roads leading to Vadapalani, Adyar and Tambaram saw vehicles in a beeline with no space to move.

Office-goers and students were worst-hit.  Chennai city district secretaries of the party led the protest urging Governor to set up a special investigative team to probe the allegations against the Chief Minister.

DMK president MK Stalin in a statement said, ‘For the past two weeks, the issue has been discussed in the media. However, the Chief Minister is yet to directly respond to the allegations.’

On 14 January, a DMK delegation met Banwarilal Purohit and demanded action against the Chief Minister. Recalling the meet, Stalin said the governor is yet to respond to his petition.
