Fire breaks out at Metro station in Chennai

Chennai: A minor fire broke out at the parking area of Arumbakkam Metro station in the wee hours of today. According to sources, timely interference of the station staff brought the fire under control averting a huge disaster.

According to a spokesperson of Chennai Metro Rail, fire occurred at a street light pole in the parking area of the station at 4 am.

The Metro’s fire extinguishers were used by workers to put off the flames. The reason for the fire is still not known.

The spokesperson said the street light poles are maintained by the Tamilnadu Electricity Board and not by CMRL.
