Forest officials capture rogue elephant

Coimbatore: Chinna Thambi, a rogue elephant which was roaming in the Periya Thadagam region was captured by the Forest department officials today. Sources said, the elephant was tranqualised and was captured with the help of two kumki elephants and more than 40 officials. It is also reported that the tusks of Chinna Thambi was damaged when the elephant was made to get in to the lorry for transportation.

Vinayagan and Chinna Thambi, two wild bulls were roaming in the area for the past six months damaging crops and vegetation. Following this residents staged protest seeking the Forest department to capture the pachyderms. Vinayagan was captured in December and was moved to the Mudhumalai forest area.
