Chennai: The Madras High Court today issued a notice to Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) asking it why can’t the forthcoming Ilayaraja-75, a mega event to honour the veteran music composer, organised by the film industry be postponed from 2 and 3 February to a later date.
The court also asked Producers Council to submit the details of the money being spent for organising the show tomorrow.
A writ plea was filed by producer JSK Sathish Kumar in the Madras High Court to restrain the TFPC from conducting the programme. Justice K Kalyanasundaram, before whom the application came up for hearing on Tuesday, ordered notice to the council, returnable by 28 January.
The application also sought to restrain the council from conducting the annual general body meeting on 25 February. He alleged that the present council office-bearers are unilaterally taking decisions against the interests of the association by spending huge money without any valid resolution. When the case came up for hearing before the court today, the Judge asked whether the event can be postponed.
