Commuting on Rajendraprasath Road is difficult, rue Chennaiites

For a long time, heading to Hastinapuram bus stand from GST Road at MIT flyover, has been a tough task, thanks to a huge line of encroachments on the way.

Residents alleged that such uncontrolled shrinking of the road will lead to chaos in the near future, and requested officials to act on a war-footing basis now.

The busy stretch that connects MIT flyover with Hastinapuram bus stand is Rajendraprasath Road.
Speaking to News Today, Federation of Civic and Welfare Associations of Pallavaram Municipality, secretary Murugaiyan, said, “On behalf of our federation, we have represented the Municipality a number of times to remove encroachments on both sides. Due to this issue, residents, mainly pedestrians, are put to hardships. They find it difficult to cross the stretch. Similarly, motorists find it tough to negotiate through traffic especially during peak hours.”

“Many accidents have also happened in the past due to uncontrolled traffic. So, we urge officials to act fast and remove the encroachments soon. Even though action is taken at times on our complaints, effective and sustained measures are nowhere in sight. We await appropriate action in interest of public safety,” he added.
