Chennai boy Sachin Mahesh (12) won the ‘Technology Award’ at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition 2019 held at Dublin, Ireland recently.
Sachin, resident of Adyar and former student of Chettinad Vidyashram, came second in the whole of Ireland and won the ‘Technology Award’ in the BT Young Scientist Competition 2019 held at Dublin.
The minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Ireland Conor Lenihan, presided over the function.
He appreciated Sachin for his achievement and presentation of the ‘Skip-A-Slip’ project, a simple light weight electronic device, that can be attached to walking stick of especially of blind people to help detect presence of liquids like water and oil, alerting the user through electronic beeps, thereby avoiding a slip.
