Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S K Joshi on Monday told the Election Commission that the government was ready to hold the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
During a video-conference held by the Election Commission with officials of various States, Joshi said the government had peacefully held the assembly polls in December and like wise will hold the coming elections in the same spirit.
According to an official release, Joshi told the EC that the State government has won an award in providing facilities in polling stations to persons with disabilities, adding that the electoral roll would be published on 22 February.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar said a special campaign has been taken up for enrolment of voters, and about 16 lakh claims and objections have been received till now, added the release.
Mahendar Reddy, State Director General of Police, who was also present, said that the police department will a plan of action in coordination with neighbouring Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh for Naxal affected areas, in order to conduct the Lok Sabha elections peacefully.
Just as how 19,000 police personnel from neighbouring states and 276 companies of central forces were brought in for security duty during the assembly polls, he asked for deployment for the Lok Sabha elections also.
