With just a few months left for the general elections, it’s action time among political parties. From devising strategies, discussing alliances and developing manifestos, they are on their toes. They never leave any opportunity to deflate their opponents. Watch is their word.
The DMK seems to be in top gear having formally announced it’s alliance with the Congress. Quite contrary to popular expectations, the ruling AIADMK has been showing sings of staying at a distance from the BJP while T T V Dhinakaran of AMMK has almost completed selecting his candidates and is on a whirlwind tour of the State. He has denied any pact with national parties.
All eyes on parties like PMK and DMDK. Remember, Kamal Haasan has said clearly that his newly-floated Makkal Needhi Maiam would contest the polls. These parties have been maintaining a stoic silence over forging an alliance to face the Lok Sabha elections. Though traditionally it is AIADMK versus DMK, with no Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi’s, it would be a different battle. The coming days will be crucial for all of them.
