Several leading brands showcased their latest collection ranging from leather footwear and bags to leather garments during the Leather Fashion Show 2019 held 31 January here in Chennai.
Convenor of the fashion show, Yavar Dhala spoke about the significance of the event. He said, “The show is one of a kind. It is the latest expressions of trends, styles and designs in world leather fashion.”
The show had 36 female and 12 male super models who wore brilliantly designed clothing. According to a press release, the products showcased during the show were specially tailor made. About fifteen India’s leading brands took part in the show.
The show was well choreographed by Bhaskaran Chandra Sekhar along with his light and sound team. Every time the show stoppers entered the ramp, the atmosphere surged with intense music and vibrant spot lights.
The show began with models arriving on stage on Harley Davidson bikes. wearing the brands’ rugged leather jackets. The models set the ramp on fire wearing dark jackets with tiny spike and studs stitched to the sleeve and shoulder.
Another interesting part was when children as young as five-years-old walked down the ramp wearing the latest children’s wear by Versatile Group.
Other unique feature of the show was drones flying over the ramp carrying exclusively designed handcrafted leather handbags by Agaukas. Models also grabbed the attention when they walked on ramp wearing off-white clothing of Tohl brand.
Tata International Limited also gave a glimpse of its ‘Spring Summer Collection 2020’. According to a press release, the Leather Fashion Show was sponsored by industry leaders.
It also added that for the very first time, brands like Rolls Royce, Harley Davidson and Titanium Motors / Mercedes Benz took part.
The event saw the participation of chairman, Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers and Exporters Association (IFLMEA), N Shafeeq Ahmed. and Honourary Treasurer IFLMEA and the fashion show’s co-convenor, A R Senthil Kumar among others.
