Actress Oviya speaks about films, Bigg Boss and Aarav

After winning several hearts with a good show in Bigg Boss reality show, Oviya is busy doing a handful of movies. She says, “I want to do three or four films a year. Rather than numbers, I prefer strong roles.”

The actress adds, “In Aarav-starrer Raja Bheema, I play myself. I appear for a dance number. I am sure the audience will love it.”

Excerpts from her interview

Q: What are your forthcoming films?

A: I have completed the shoot for Kanchana 3, Kalavani 2 and 90 ML. They will be releasing soon. I haven’t signed any new projects. I am listening to a lot of stories. Several heroine-centric stories were narrated to me. I will choose my films with caution. I want to do three or four films a year.

Q: Tell us about your role in 90 ML.

A: Directed by Anita Udeep, it is an important movie in my career. Simbu has composed some foot-tapping numbers for the flick. Films like these are very rare in Tamil cinema. I play a chilled-out girl, who enjoys life on her own terms. She is independent, bold and fun-loving. She becomes friends with a bunch of girls, solves their problems and brings about a change in their lives. In Kalavani 2, I play a rural girl and this is the kind of variation I want in my career.

Q: On being part of a multi-starrer like Kanchana 3…

A: It is a fun film and, for the first time, I tried my hands at horror-comedy. It was great fun shooting for the movie and I shared good bonding with Vedhika. I am eagerly waiting for the release of Kanchana 3.

Q: About Aarav?

A: He is my good friend. We support each other. We both have so much to do. Both have a lot to achieve in our respective careers.

Q: Who is your favourite filmmaker?

A: I don’t have individual preference. If a filmmaker comes up with a gripping story for me, I will act in his movie. I don’t want to be cliched in my performance. I love to explore new genres like comedy and action.
