Maha kumbabhishegam at Avvai Nagar Murugan temple in Chennai

The maha kumbabhishegam of Arulmigu Vallidevasena Samedha Sivasubramaniya Swami Temple at Avvai Nagar, will be held on 24 February.

K Rajesh Kumar, a trustee of the temple, said, the kumbabhishegam will be held for three days from 22 February with the Ganapathy homam at 9 am.

“The yagasaalai pravesam will begin at 5 pm on 22 February. This will be followed by special homams on 23 February. The rajagopuram and vimanam kumbabishegam will be held on 24 February at 8.30 am. Thirukalyanam will be conducted at 6.30 pm. The event will be conducted by V Manigandam Sivachariyar, Mayiladudhurai,” he said.

He further said, the kumbabishegam will be followed by a 48-day mandala pooja. “The temple is more than 40 years old and is being renovated for the past three years. This is the only temple in the locality, to have Lord Murugan as the main deity. A rajagopuram has been constructed and the temple premises have also been expanded to accommodate new deities who include Valakaritheeswarar, Maragadhambaal, Aadhiandha Prabhu, Rahu, Kethu, Kaala Bairavar and Chandikeshwarar,” Rajesh added.

He also asked the general public and devotees to contribute generously for the cause.
