Public refrigerators to feed poor introduced in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Public refrigerators to reduce food wastage and feed hungry has been been introduced in the city by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

The GHMC has partnered with an NGO to initiate this cause, where food leftover from weddings and other functions would be stored for the poor.

According to a GHMC official, three centres with the refrigerators were launched the previous week and people who have excess food and wished to donate can leave food in them. This will reduce food wastage and feed hungry.

Ten more such centres would come up across the city soon, said the official.
