Hyderabad: YSR Congress party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y S Sharmila had filed a complaint with the Hyderabad police against those posting objectionable content linking her to a Tollywood actor on the social media, and two youngsters were arrested on Sunday in connection to this.
Subsequently the police filed a case under the IT Act and IPC section 509 and on Sunday arrested two youngsters in connection to the matter.
Sharmila had filed her complaint on 14 January and her brother Jagan Mohan Reddy had alleged that the Telugu Desam Party was behind spreading such rumours.
According to reports, on Saturday, an MCA student was arrested from Guntur and another was arrested on Sunday from Mancherial district.
Reports further revealed both the youngsters were not connected and that unknown persons had posted videos linking Sharmila with the actor and the two had posted obscene comments to the video.
The duo was tracked based on the IP address, police said. Terming the incident as “character assassination”, Jagan Reddy’s sister alleged the TDP was spreading rumours against her.
Accusing the TDP, Sharmila said she had natural and that they were behind the mud-slinging.
Paritala Sunitha, Andhra Pradesh Women Development Minister, however, condemned Sharmila’s allegations, and said the TDP had nothing to do with the social media posts.
