Man arrested for posing as PMO official in Chennai

Chennai: The police on Tuesday arrested a man for posing as an official of the Prime Minister’s Office after his car hit a motorcycle and injured an advocate at the Madras High Court campus here.

Following the mishap, the 33-year-old man, later identified as M Prasad, and his driver got into trouble after he claimed to be a Assistant Commissioner-Protocol. His luxury car also sported stickers on the windscreen including ‘Airports Authority’ and ‘Interpol.’

The police complaint was lodged by an advocate V Ananth who witnessed the accident and he sought action against the two men.

According to police reports, Prasad was running a travel firm and during questioning it was established that he had made fake claims. He even had a fake PMO Identity Card.

The accused along with his car driver was arrested and produced before a court which remanded him to judicial custody.
