Policeman ends life at Nungambakkam in Chennai

Chennai: A head constable committed suicide due to his poor health condition at Nungambakkam this morning. According to police, Veeravel (45) lived with his wife and two children at the police quarters in Nungambakkam.

He joined the department in 1997 and subsequently rose to the rank of a head constable. Recently, due to a kidney failure, he was undergoing dialysis. Yesterday, his wife Meenambal informed the station that he was unwell and would not be coming for work. Last night, night Veeravel had dinner with his family and went to sleep in a separate room.

This morning, he did not come out even by 9 am. Meenambal and the children broke open the door and found him hanging from the ceiling. They rushed him to Government Kilpauk Hospital. However, he could not be saved.
