CMRL’s ‘Office Ride’ feeder service that offers pick up and drop to Metro rail users to and from their office will soon be extended to Anna Nagar East, Anna Nagar Tower and Koyambedu metro stations in Chennai.
At present, the service is available for commuters in Alandur Metro station to offices in Ascendas, Global Infocity, RMZ Millenia, ELCOT, and SIPCOT. It was launched this week. As part of the ‘Office Ride’ service, an air-conditioned, Wi-Fi-enabled feeder vehicle is offered by metro rail with Ford’s Corporate Shuttle Feeder Services.
A total of five vehicles each with a seating capacity of about 12 was launched. As of now, nine trips each from 8 am to 12 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm have been planned.
“As a mobility company, we are working with cities to help address growing transportation needs. We are excited to launch Office Ride as nodal connectivity for CMRL,” said country director, Ford Smart Mobility India, R Mahadevan.
A CMRL official said, “Through Office Ride, commuters can book rides through an app and pay for the rides digitally – through internet banking, digital wallets, credit or debit cards. CMRL said the service will help reduce traffic congestion and pollution by encouraging the use of shared mobility.”
Since its launch, the CMRL has taken several initiatives like share taxi, share auto, tempo feeder services, bicycle schemes, Zoom car and electric auto services for improving and establishing last-mile connectivity at several places in the neighbourhood.
