DMK lashes out at Kamal Haasan, calls him an opportunist & BJP agent

Chennai: The DMK today took a dig at actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan  for his recent remarks on the party. They said he was making senseless allegations about the DMK following pressure from the BJP.

A strong-worded article in their party organ Murasoli described Kamal  Haasan as opportunist. It said, “The DMK is not in power for seven years and still Kamal claims it as a corrupt party. It must be not his words, but made due to pressure from the BJP. We have seen even tall actors fearing the Income-Tax and Enforcement Directorate backstabbing the party that celebrated them. We have seen enough backstabbing and still stand tall . Kamal Haasan’s senseless allegation won’t affect us in any way.”

“When Kamal Haasan was conferred Padmashree title, DMK chief M Karunanidhi attended the felicitation. The former Chief Minister was invited by Kamal Haasan when he started the shooting for Marudhanayagam and Kamal Haasan sought the blessings of Karunanidhi when he acted as woman in Avvai Shanmugi. One must wonder if the DMK is a corrupt party, why should Karunanidhi be invited for all his major events?” it said.

The article also urged cadres not to be distracted or bothered by his utterances.

A few months agoMurasoli carried a similar article against actor Rajinikanth. It described him as a puppet in the hands of the BJP.

It was a first-time attack on the Superstar, who responded by saying no one can drive a wedge between him and his followers. It painted Rajinikanth as a black sheep, who is out to destroy Dravidian ideals in tandem with the saffron party.

However, within a couple of days, it backtracked and tendered an apology for the article.

Notwithstanding the exchange of  barbs between them, Stalin and Kamal Haasan were seen talking casually at a wedding in the family of Tiruvallur DMK MLA in Chennai this morning.
