Chennai: A special team of police led by Deputy Commissioner Muthusamy continue to search for the remaining body parts of junior artiste Sandhya at Perungudi dumpyard.
From 7 February, a team of 10-12 policemen have been at the dumpyard along with workers rummaging through tonnes of garbage.
A police source said, “In a day at least 400 vehicles with garbage reach the yard. We are yet to find body parts above the hip.”
Even as the search continue, the police said murderer husband Balakrishnan could be taken into custody again for questioning. They suspect that Balakrishnan would have disposed the body parts somewhere else and he is lying.
Huge cranes and earthmovers were used to clear the garbage. Police also questioned several conservancy workers to find the spot where the garbage from Jafferkhanpet and Ekkaduthangal could be dumped.
According to the police, in January, Balakrishnan first murdered Sandhya with a hammer. Then he used a machete to chop her body into five pieces, packed them into three plastic bags and disposed the bags in garbage bins in and around Jafferkhanpet. He waited till midnight to dispose the bags.
