Avadi Engine Factory gets new GM in Shyam Sunder


Chennai: Shyam Sunder has assumed charge as the general manager of Avadi Engine Factory following the transfer of present incumbent Anil Kumar to the Field Gun Factory, in Kanpur.

According to a Ministry of Defence release, Shyam Sunder belongs to the 1988 batch of Indian Ordnance Factories Service. In his career spanning 30 years with the Department of Defence, he has held many key positions in various Ordnance Factories of Armoured Division.

He has headed the combat vehicle production group, quality assurance group and maintenance of plant and machinery including state-of-the-art CNC machines.

Sunder has also looked after planning and co-ordination of issue of armoured vehicles and their spares to Indian Army. He has organised successful conduct of user interaction meet on behalf of HVF for tanks at field locations. He was conferred with ‘Ayudh Bhushan Award’ for his outstanding contribution to Defence Production.

He is an alumnus of Bangalore University. He holds a PG Mechanical Engineering degree from Roorkee University and PG Diploma in Management from MDI, Gurgaon.
