IndianOil honours school students


Chennai: Students, who topped in various competitions organised as part of Saksham-2019 by IndianOil were honoured at a the valedictory
function held here Friday.

Under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), Oil and Gas Conservation mass campaign is being observed from 16 January to 15 February every year by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and the Oil Industry. The one-month awareness campaign is christened as ‘Saksham 2019’ by MoP& NG.

PCRA in co-ordination with oil marketing companies conducted the school competitions under three categories – essay, painting and quiz. Total prizes worth of Rs 2 crores were announced for the school competitions.

The competitions aimed to raise awareness among the school students about practical tips for the conservation of petroleum products in industrial, transport, agriculture and domestic sector, and how to practice such tips in their daily lives.

A total 82 lakh students participated from all over the country. Tamilnadu has crossed the set target of 4.37 lakh students and achieved 5.16 lakh participations this year, a press release said.

Tamilnadu Transport Development Finance Corporation Ltd (TDFC Ltd) joint managing director M Sukumar gave away prizes to winners.
IndianOil executive director R Sitharathan, executive director (regional services) Arup Sinha and officials participated.
