Puducherry: “The Centre should intervene and recall Bedi as she has been standing in the way of implementation of various welfare schemes ever since she assumed office in 2016,” said M K Stalin yesterday.
He met the Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and ministers, who were staging a dharna againt Bedi, at the Raj Nivas. Their protest has entered its sixth day. Speaking to reporters, Stalinalleged that Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi was functioning like a dictator and was trampling democracy by bowing to Modi’s instructions and commands.
Slamming the BJP, he said, “I condemn on behalf of the DMK, the silence and indifference maintained by the Prime Minister.” He further stated the BJP was using Bedi as a tool to grab power. He also challenged that if BJP had the guts and courage it must face elections and come to power and not through the backdoor by using Bedi as the tool.
He also condemned the Central government for not initiating any step to resolve the matter.
