Kerala CM announces Rs 25 lakh aid to slain jawan’s family

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister today announced that the family of V V Vasanth Kumar, one of the CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama suicide attack in Jammu and Kashmir, would get a financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh – Rs 15 lakh to his wife and 10 lakh to his mother.

The Kerala government held a cabinet meet today and decided to meet the educational expenses of the jawan’s two children – son Amandeep (5) and daughter Anamika (8).

Speaking to reporters, the CM said that Vasanth’s wife Sheena who is now working as an assistant at the veterinary university would be given a permanent position. He also promised to build a new house for the grieving family.

“The government is sharing the grief over the killing of 40 CRPF personnel who had lost life in the terror attack in Pulwama. One of our brothers, hailing from Wayanad, also was among them,” the Chief Minister said.

The 44-year-old jawan hailed from Wayanad district. On 14 February, 40 CRPF personnel were killed in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir when a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into their bus in Pulwama district.
