Chennai: Chief Minister and co-coordinator of the AIADMK, Edappadi K Palaniswami is holding talks with his Cabinet colleagues at his Greenways residence right now.
According to reports, the subject of discussion is the inclusion of the DMDK and TMC in the AIADMK alliance for the 2019 general elections.
Earlier talks with the DMDK seem to have failed with sources suggesting that the party is bargaining hard for seats and wants at least one seat more than the PMK – which has got seven Lok Sabha seats and one Rajya Sabha seat – from the Dravidian major.
When BJP Union Minister Piyush Goyal was in Chennai to seal the deal with the AIADMK, he met DMDK leader Vijayakanth but failed to extract his nod to join the ‘mega’ alliance.
It is said the DMDK’s deputy general secretary, Sudhish, is now negotiating with the AIADMK and driving a hard bargain for one seat more than that allotted to the PMK.
In a related development, Vijayakanth is holding talks with his party leaders at his Saligramam residence on the alliance issue.
