Hyderabad: Two months after coming to power, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday expanded his two-member Cabinet. Ten members were inducted but none were women members. Noting this, BJP’s former MLA G Kishan Reddy came down heavily on KCR.
Speaking to reporters, Reddy said, “Even in Islamic nations there are woman ministers. But, in our state we don’t have woman minister. People including women expected that at least this time a woman will be made minister (by KCR)…it is unfortunate not having a woman minister.”
He also noted that Rao’s first cabinet too didn’t include women and urged SHE Teams of Telangana Police to book a case against KCR in this regard.
He further raised questions as to why Rao had kept to himself the key portfolios, such as Finance, Irrigation, Revenue, Industries, Power and Municipal Administration. He asked whether his other ministers were not capable of handling them.
The opposition parties had over the last two months hit out at the TRS over the delay in the cabinet expansion and the Congress called Rao a dictator.
Kishan Reddy too raised a questioning in this regard. “Is it a qualitative change of not having any representation in the Cabinet for 2 crore women population of the state. It is an insult to Telangana women,” Reddy claimed.
