AIADMK MP dies in accident while returning from PMK dinner party

Chennai: The gala dinner at Thailapuram ended on a tragic note for AIADMK MP Rajendran. He died in a car accident near Tindivanam early this morning.

PMK leaders, Dr S Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss, had hosted a grand dinner at their Thailapuram residence for the AIADMK leaders to celebrate the alliance deal that they had struck up.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam and other leaders were among the guests.

According to reports, Rajendran, who represented the Villupuram constituency, took part in the dinner and was on way to his home in Vanur, Villupuram, when the accident took place around 4 am.

While nearing Tindivanam, the car dashed against the media and crumpled. Rajendran, his car driver Arumainayagam and another unidentified person were grievously injured in the accident.

Passersby, who noticed the accident, helped to rush them to a hospital. While Rajendran died without responding to treatment, the other two are in the ICU.

Chief Minister Palaniswami has conveyed his condolences to the family of Rajendran.
