Chennai: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder-leader Thol Thirumavalavan, who held talks with the seat-sharing committee of the DMK at its headquarters Anna Arivalayam, has been allotted two seats in the alliance.
According to reports, this is the second round of talks between the Dravidian major and the Dalit party.
The seat-sharing talks were put on hold for the last few weeks with the DMK trying to woo the DMDK of Vijayakanth. But since there seemed no forward movement in the alliance talks with the party, the DMK has begun consolidating and allotting seats for its existing alliance partners.
In this regard, the VCK thrashed out the details with the DMK this morning. Though the number of seats has been agreed upon, the constituencies have not been allocated.
There is speculation about the constituency Thirumavalavan would be allotted. Though Chidambaram constituency has been his fort, it remains to be seen if he will get it from the DMK this time. He contested the 2016 State elections from Kattumannar Koil but lost to the AIADMK candidate Murugamaran.
With 2019 general elections nearing, there is a flurry of activity in party offices to stitch up alliances before the announcement of the poll dates.
